Everything Is Illuminated

Code of color, Place for emotions

My work reflects life via culture. I am especially interested in architecture and painting, places people have made. The history and presence of visual culture, the different systems and patterns that make life visible both as it is seen in the everyday life as well as in the high culture are of great importance to me. I want to combine element of different cultures through my own  experiences as well as interpret the experiences of others as I them understand. With my work I hope to make good places and spaces for emotions.
There is no painting without a concept. Each of my works is based on an idea, a concrete thought, which can be understood to be the same as structure,a base on which I make my paintings. The idea is the concept for the content of the paintings. I am interested in different systems and the structures humans create for themselves. The relationship between order and chaos is both exciting and problematic. I want to organise chaos and to disturb order in my work.I have a desire to say many things at the same time. What really matters is how well I can combine the languages of the painting and juxtapose them. It reflects our pluralist culture. There is no one truth anymore. Instead there are many parallel and layered truths. I want to make paintings that tell a story, have a narrative.
My work is a meeting ground for the intellectual thinking process and my emotional attitude towards it. You could compere my idea, concept to making a problem statement, while the painting process is an attempt to resolve the problem. The act of painting must provide pleasure and it has to be interesting and challenging. The completed work has to, on the other hand, satisfy both my intellectual and emotional needs.

Through the painting process I want to create surfaces that express the more positive side of life, hope and joy, surfaces that are sensual. I want to capture the light and give body to humanity and energy. I want to paint the psychological and physical experience that comes about when something is there and is not at the same time.
My goal is to make the visible more visible and to give form and colour to that  what is not visible.

"Space is not only geometrically organized image, or a symbol for the societal order or values of the people living in it, like e.g. the philosophers of enlightenment used to think. Space is also part of the formation of the societal order, cultural meanings and values."
